Dyed Yarn Knitted into a Hat!

I made this hat for my friend Lauren over the summer and it actually was a pretty easy pattern and did not take that long. The pattern is from the book Boutique Knits by Laura Irwin. The pattern is actually called Argyle Lace Hat also by Laura Irwin. I used a size 6 (for the brim of the hat) and a size 7 (for the rest of the hat) circular needles. The buttons I got from Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg, WI at an antique booth.

The yarn, for most of the hat, I dyed myself! It was a second which means that someone had used the pot to dye yarn before me and I used the same dye. The first for this particular dying was more of a pinkish purple while, as you can see, the second is more purple. I did not stir the yarn while it was boiling (I will talk more about yarn dying in a different post) which is why that it is not a solid color. The brim of the hat is from a different yarn. (Sadly I did not keep the label so I cannot tell you what the brand is which is why you **always keep the label** if you run out of the yarn, want to repeat the project or someone wants to know what the yarn brand is you will know.)

Cool hat. The buttons give it a cool and different look.
